colors=Green, Maroon and White|The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (also known as UW-Green Bay, UWGB or GB) is a public university located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. It is part of the University of Wisconsin System.

UW–Green Bay was founded in 1965 and originally had an environmental emphasis, but now offers a wide array of degrees. It is unusual among Wisconsin's public universities in that it does not have a football team, due to advice from Vince Lombardi citing high costs and the fact that the city already hosted the Green Bay Packers.

Around the university is the Cofrin Memorial Arboretum, which has several miles of walking and bicycling trails.

In 2006, student enrollment was approximately 5,800, 5,489 of whom were undergraduates (33% male, 67% female).

In 2004 there were 5,657 students enrolled, 5,349 of whom were undergraduates. 35% were men and 65% women. White non-Hispanics made up 93% of the population, African Americans 1%, American Indians 2%, Asians 2% and Hispanics 1%. Notable reference in the Student Government Association, there have only been two students in the history of the university to become the twice-elected president. Most recently, Jonathan Virant was the second to accomplish that in the academic year of 2004-2005. Phlash TV, a student-run TV station, won a total of 9 awards in 2006 and 2007 at the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Student Awards. This was the most awards out of any school in the State of Wisconsin, and included a first place award created by Levi LaCrosse, starring Alicia McCanna. In February 2008 Phlash TV brought home 5 Awards including 3 first place awards (again the most out of any other school in Wisconsin in the TV category). First place winners included Adam Binder and Ben Krumholz for their Milwaukee Bucks Season Preview; Ben Kotenberg & Matt Becker for their Intramural Championship Play-by-Play announcing; and Jason Vincent for his Shorewood Golf Course Commercial. Ellie Young and Jana Peterson won 2nd place for the Phlash TV Website, and Mike Schillman won 2nd place for his Res Life Commercial.

Athletics

UW-Green Bay is an NCAA Division I school. They are a member of the Horizon League. The UW-Green Bay women's basketball team has won or tied for the Horizon League regular-season championship nine times, including the last eight years. Their most recent win in the NCAA Tournament came in 2007, when they were seeded #9 and defeated the University of New Mexico in the first round before falling to the top seeded University of Connecticut in the second round despite leading 40-38 at the half. That loss ended their school-record and nation-leading 26-game winning streak. They also received their first national ranking in 2003, when they were ranked as high as #16 in both the Associated Press poll and the Coaches' Poll. In 2005, they also received a national ranking and a bid to the NCAA Tournament, but were knocked out in the first round by University of Maryland, College Park. They have also made two appearances in the WNIT (Woman National Invitational Tournament), most recently in 2006, where they lost to Iowa State University in overtime in a first round game.

The UW-Green Bay softball team has also entered the national spotlight recently. In the 2005 season, they claimed their first Horizon League tournament championship after being picked to finish last in the conference. They went on to the national tournament, where they defeated #6 seed Oregon State University in the first round of the tournament.

Kress Events Center

Opening in early 2007, the Kress Events Center was added to the University of Wisconsin Green Bay campus. It seats approximately 4,000 and is the home of the University of Wisconsin Green Bay Phoenix women's volleyball and basketball teams, who had previously played in the Phoenix Sports Center.
