The Semelai language is a dialect spoken by the
Semalai people , aProto-Malay ("Aboriginal Malay") tribal group, one of nineteen "orang asli " groups ofMalaysia . The Semelai reside in the region betweenSegamat (Johore ) and thePahang River .
