David Penalva (born 26 January 1980 in France) is a Portuguese rugby union footballer, who plays as a lock for Nice, a French side competing in the French Fédérale 1 for the 2010-11 season. Penalva also plays for Portugal's national side.

Penalva made his debut for the national side on 3 March 2002, in a match against Spain, and has received 30 caps in total. Penalva was in the Portuguese squad for the 2007 World Cup, appearing in the three opening games, and scoring a try in the third game against Italy.^[7]
