As of 2001 Indiacensus , [GR|India] Kopargaon had a population of 59,996. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Kopargaon has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 62%. In Kopargaon, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.It is situated on the bank of
Godavari river . It is 40 km fromManmad railway junction. The famous temple ofSai Baba atShirdi is 14 km from the town. The present population of the town is about 63,000 inhabitants.There are three
sugar factories around Kopargaon. A new industrial chemical complex has also been set up to manufacture alcohol from canemolasses and basic chemicals such asacetic acid ,ethyl acetate ,oxalic acid ,diethyl oxalate etc. In addition to this, there is an industrial estate having 52 small scale industries, milkdairy etc. Kopargaon is also the only Railway Station near Shirdi, the famous temple of Sai Baba. Kopargaon is also known for its devotional value for many saints choosing to live around the place on the banks of Godavari.The economy of the tehsil is driven mainly by agriculture with sugar cane being the major cash crop of the region. Kopargaon has been on the forefront of developments in agriculture with most modern technologies being implied by the farmers to the advantage of the occupation. However, due to increased competition and worsening water resources in the area, the agriculture based economy has been on a steep downfall under the pressure of sustaining the high standards set in the past.Kopargaon is also known for its Engineering College ; Sanjivani College of Engineering.
Recently a new pharmacy college is also opened in the town. Also for purpose of education there is K.B. Rohmare junior college. As far as basic education concerns S G vidyalaya is the famous school for primary education.
Also in Kopargaon there is a sugar factory by name of Sanjivani Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana. It is one of the biggest co-operative society in the area. The sugar factory is one of the major source of employment for the people around the village besides agriculture.
The major banks that have branch in the town are a) Bank Of Maharashtra, 2) Bank of Baroda,3) State Bank of India.There is also a local co-operative bank known as Kopargaon people co-operative bank. Besides having many medium to small credit co-operative socities.
Kopargaon is Vidhansabha constituency in Maharashtra. The new reformed constituency is called 219 Kopargaon. For 2009 state assembly elections there are about 214865 voters.

Kolpewadi is one of most developed village in taluka.Warigaon (known as Kanhegaon for railway station) is 17 k.m. away from the Kopargaon which is situated on the bank of the Godavari River.
