Hood River, Oregon ,United States . HRVHS was the result of the consolidation of two smaller high schools at the time of its founding. HRVHS is the only comprehensive public high school in the Hood River Valley, creating a diverse mixture of students in the student body. The proximity of HRVHS to the orchards in the Hood River valley makes it the primary school for a large number of children of migrant workers. The Grade Point Average at HRVHS is unweighted, and is determined by each grade equaling a point value (i.e. A=4 Points).chool
Hood River Valley High School uses an 8 period A Day/B Day schedule, with periods 1-4 on A Days and periods 5-8 on B Days. HRVHS previouly employed the MOD system, an instructional practice where classes are not mandatory and instead all course work is due on a particular date. However, due to poor performance, this system was replaced for the class oriented one used today.
Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered at Hood River Valley High School and include English, US History, Chemistry, Calculus, Government and Biology.HRVHS is a Title 1 school and therefore must comply with such federal regulation as

Hood River Valley High School has a drop out rate of 2.8% and the attendance rate of the school is 94%. For the 2006 Oregon Statewide Assessments, the score for Reading was 57%, the state average being 55%. For Science, the score was 50%, below the state average of 62%. In Writing the score was 55%, equal to the state average of 55%.
