Ray Munns (born
March 10 ,1980 ) is a formerMTV VJ andTrance DJ . In 2000, Munns beat out 10,0000 other hopefuls to win the third annualWanna Be a VJ contest. During the live show, Munns participated in a series of challenges a VJ would expect to encounter…from introducing videos to interviewing celebrities such asMethod Man . At the end of the show, a debate was held between Munns and Shannon Wiseman who was in the lead. In the debate, Munns made a comment about MTV not needing anymoreBarbie Dolls. He was referring to the cookie cutter image of a VJ. The live studio audience went wild and Munns was awarded fifty one percent to Wiseman’s forty nine percent.Munns started his MTV career as
Carson Daly 's sidekick onTRL during the 2000 summer beach house. He also did a Wrigley’sBig Red (gum) spot and appeared onCraig Kilborn . Within one week of his victory he was imitated byChris Kattan onSaturday Night Live {1} for having an infectious laugh. Munns second live interview came when Carson Daly hadShannon Elizabeth say hello to him on TRL. He was chosen byTime Warner andMTV to shoot five vignettes for the 2000 MTVVMA , and also started work as executive producer on his first mixed CD "Ray's House" forKinetic Records . Munns was spotted out at popular clubs with celebrities includingNsync ,Backstreet Boys ,The Fugees ,Mike Tyson ,Busta Rhymes and many more.On January 1, 2001 MTV debuted its new show "VJ4ADAY.” The live program featured contestants battling for Munns' job…some of the challenges included introducing videos and interacting with celebrities. After winning four times, a contestant would compete with Munns "Head to Head" for his job. After five "Head to Head" matches and hosting VJ for a Day for four months; Munns retained his job and left the show as the “People’s Champion.”

Post MTV
After leaving MTV as a full time VJ, Munns was named one of
People Magazine ’s "50 Most Eligible Bachelors"{1}. He was featured alongsideMatt Damon ,George Clooney ,Ben Affleck ,Josh Hartnett , andRussell Crowe . While taking a break from promoting and DJing for his album “Rays House;” he hosted the "Swordfish Movie Special" featuringPaul Oakenfold andAfrica Bambaataa . Munns was also brought back as a guest judge on MTV when he was not busy DJing. In 2001, he was a judge at theMiss Teen USA awards.{1} Source People Magazine July 2, 2001

During the time he was DJing, Munns became heavily involved into charity work. He MC'd events for the Lilly Claire Foundation at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. He was also featured in
Newsweek withArnold Schwarzenegger while attending a benefit for inner city youth. Munns became heavily involved with dog rescue while executive producing his second album, "Ray Munns Presents A DJ's Night Out" on Funk Wax Records. After touring for the album, he played a minor role in the independent film "Destination Fame."While on tour for his second album, Munns was involved in a rear end collision and went through physical therapy to regain normal use of his right arm and shoulder. During his recovery, Munns became more and more involved with Adopt a Rescue Pet and is now a senior volunteer with the group.
Current
Munns recently wrote an article for Asians of Mixed Race [2] and was spotted at the 2007 VMA after-parties in Las Vegas partying [3] with
Gym Class Heroes ,Fall Out Boy ,Travis Barker ,John Norris , andMichael Grant [4] .According to his My Space page Munns now rescues dogs, writes screenplays, and is pursuing a career in film and TV.
