- Llanos el Salado
The Llanos el Salado is a large
endorheic basin of centralMexico . It is located on theMexican Plateau , and covers portions of several Mexican states, including eastern and northeasternZacatecas , NorthernSan Luis Potosí , westernTamaulipas , southwesternNuevo León , and southeasternCoahuila .The basin has an arid climate, and is covered by the dry shrublands of the
Meseta Central matorral . The rivers and streams of the basin, both perennial and seasonal, do not drain to the sea, but instead drain to a number of salt lakes.Mexico's
National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Data Processing (INEGI) divides the Llanos el Salado region into several basins:
