Cloudy Cloud Calculator was described as one of Minekawa's "finest and most unusual moments", "highly inventive, restrained pop",[4] and "wonderfully cute, all-synthesizer musings."[3] Minekawa played almost every instrument on the album and produced, arranged, wrote, and sang all its songs.[5] Minekawa toured in the United States to support the album.
