- HMS Conquest (1915)
HMS "Conquest" was a C-class
light cruiser of theRoyal Navy . She was part of the "Caroline" group of the C-class of cruisers.She was laid down in March 1914, launched
20 January 1915 and commissioned into the navy in June 1915. She was assigned to the 5th Light Cruiser Squadron,Harwich Force, guarding the eastern approaches to theEnglish Channel She was damaged on25 April 1916 by Germanbattlecruiser s during the German raid ofLowestoft . On5 June 1917 "Conquest" sank the German destroyer "S 20", and in July 1918 she was damaged by mine and needed to be repaired. She survived the war, but was considered obsolete before the outbreak of theSecond World War and was sold on29 August 1930 to Metal Industries, ofRosyth to be broken up.References
