The suprascapular nerve arises from the trunk formed by the union of the fifth and sixthcervical nerves . It innervates thesupraspinatus muscle s andinfraspinatus muscle s.It runs lateralward beneath the
Trapezius and theOmohyoideus , and enters thesupraspinatous fossa through thesuprascapular notch , below, thesuperior transverse scapular ligament ; it then passes beneath theSupraspinatus , and curves around the lateral border of the spine of thescapula to theinfraspinatous fossa .In the
supraspinatous fossa it gives off two branches to theSupraspinatus muscle , and an articular filament to the shoulder-joint; and in theinfraspinatous fossa it gives off two branches to theInfraspinatous muscle, besides some filaments to theshoulder-joint andscapula .Disorders
