Peterboro, New York , was a home ofGerrit Smith , 19th-century social reformer, abolitionist, and presidential candidate. The buildings remaining on the property that contribute to its historical significance are thePeterboro Land Office with an attached smokehouse, designated on theNational Register of Historic Places on its own, a 19th century barn and an adjacent building that was probably the laundry.
