HMS Patriot

HMS "Patriot" was a Thornycroft "M" class destroyer that served in the Royal Navy.

Built by Thornycroft & Company, Southampton, she was launched on the 20th April 1916.

HMS "Patriot" saw extensive service throughout World War I. She maintained continuous operations both as a convoy escort, and in harbour protection. At the end of the war, she was deemed surplus and transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy and was renamed warship|HMCS|Patriot. She was transferred to Halifax in late 1920 along with her sister ship warship|HMS|Patrician and the cruiser warship|HMS|Aurora.
