Caledonia Toll House

Caledonia Toll House

The Caledonia Toll House is one of the oldest buildings in Caledonia still standing, the first being the Haldimand House, the second being the Old Mill, and the third this great building. It is also one of the most haunted buildings too! The toll house was there when the original iron bridge collapsed and the new concrete one (Still used today) was built. It cost 25 cents to cross the iron bridge 2 ways and 20 cents to cross the Concrete bridge one way. If you did not stop to pay the toll you were escorted inside or if the problem became serious, you went to spend time in Edinburgh Square. The toll house haunting include the men and women that ran the building and the people that refused to pay the toll for crossing. The woman who currently lives in the toll house refuses to go upstairs at night because of the seriousness of the haunting. If she occasionally wanders upstairs at night she experiences the smell of pipe smoke and cigarette smoke, spit hitting her face, and terrifying shrieks that send chills down her spine! Spooky stuff happens in this house!
