Adam Joseph Maida was born to Adam and Sophie Cieslak Maida. He graduated from
St. Mary's Preparatory inOrchard Lake Village ,Michigan in 1948. In 1952, Maida graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy fromSaint Vincent College in the Pittsburgh suburb of Latrobe,Pennsylvania .
