Gérard Diffloth is a retired
Austro-Asiatic Languages professor, formerly of theUniversity of Chicago ,Chicago, Illinois , andCornell University ,Ithaca, New York . He received his Ph.D. fromUCLA , after a dissertation on theIrula language .Diffloth is known for his widely cited 1974 and 2005 Austro-Asiatic languages' classifications.
