Arthur Brown, Jr. (born June 17, 1990 in Wichita, Kansas) is an American football player. He plays middle linebacker for the University of Miami. Pete Carroll said that Brown is the best linebacker that he has seen in seven years, while Bob Stoops predicted Brown to win the Dick Butkus Award two times, cite web |url=http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/04/sports/football/04brown.html?ex=1338609600&en=e0dd4377e1c46419&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss |title=A Linebacker’s Legend Is Growing in Kansas |accessdate=2007-09-10 |author=Thayer Evans |date=2007-06-04 |work= |publisher=New York Times] a feat only achieved by Brian Bosworth.

Brown committed to the University of Miami on December 17, 2007.

Personal

Arthur is the son of Arthur Sr. and Lelonnie Brown. His uncle Lawrence Pete is former Detroit Lions player.

His younger brother Bryce plays running back for East High School and was named “"EA Sports" national sophomore of the year” in 2006.cite web |url=http://www.usatoday.com/sports/preps/football/2007-09-06-Browns_N.htm |title=Wichita gems hail from same team … and family |accessdate=2007-09-10 |author=Steve Wieberg |date=2007-09-06 |work= |publisher=USA Today] Bryce Brown is considered one of the top football players of the high school class of 2009.

High school career

Brown attended Wichita High School East in Wichita, Kansas, where he was coached by Brian Byers. As a sophomore and junior he was a consensus First Team Class 6A All-State selection and as a junior he was named to the "Wichita Eagles" “Second 11” All-State Team. Brown registered 154 tackles (111 solo) and 7 sacks as a sophomore starter at linebacker in 2005, but also rushed for 462 yards at fullback. As a junior Brown had 158 tackles, eight sacks and an interception.

Brown attended the 2006 Oklahoma summer camp where he ran the 40 yard dash in 4.47 seconds. Some felt he was the most impressive prospect to attend the camp. Brown also was very impressive at the 2007 U.S. Army Combine. He announced in June 2007 that he will participate in the 2008 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Primarily because of the Brown brothers ESPNU nationally televised a matchup between East and Dodge City High School on September 7, 2007. Recruiting

Considered the top player to come out of Wichita since Kamerion Wimbley or even Barry Sanders. In September 2007, Brown announced the schools he planned visit were Alabama, Louisiana State, North Carolina, Miami (Fla.) and USC. [ [http://www.kansas.com/sports/updates/story/179151.html Kansas.com: East's Arthur Brown will visit Bama, LSU, UNC, Miami, USC] ] Oklahoma, Kansas State, Georgia Tech, Florida and Georgia, whom he had already visited, were still on his list of ten. Though some predicted Brown to ultimately choose Oklahoma, [cite web |url=http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/stories/2007/08/23/cfbstorylines_0826.html |title=Some college football storylines to watch |accessdate=2007-09-10 |author=Tony Barnhart, Jeff D'Alessio |date=2007-08-23 |work= |publisher=Atlanta Journal-Constitution] he eliminated OU along with Alabama, Georgia Tech, and Georgia in early November. [ [http://www.kansas.com/680/story/223782.html Arthur Brown drops OU from list] ] On December 5, he eliminated Kansas State from his list. Brown was down to LSU, UNC, Miami, USC, and Florida, but with no clear front runner, when he held a press conference on December 17 at the Kansas Hall of Fame to announce his decision. [ [http://recruiting.scout.com/2/687477.html Scout.com Spreatsheet Data] ] He decided to attend the University of Miami.
