Paul Deanno

Paul Deanno (born June 23, 1975) works as the Chief Meteorologist for NBC6 (WTVJ) in Miami, Florida. The National Weather Associate lists his last name as "Diano," as "Deanno" is a phonetic spelling. He previously worked as a meteorologist, news anchor, and news reporter in Philadelphia, San Antonio, Spokane, and Medford.

Before television

Deanno was born in Philadelphia, but raised in Marlton, New Jersey. Paul and his parents were one of the first families to move into South Jersey's first master-planned community, Kings Grant. His mother is an English teacher at Marlton Middle School, and his father is a vice-president of a labor union.

Deanno attended Cherokee High School, where he got his first taste of broadcasting by reading the morning announcements and sports scores. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1996 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Television career

Deanno's first job in television came in September 1995 while interning at WUTR in Utica, New York. Two weeks into the internship, Deanno was hired as a photojournalist. He continued as a photojournalist and reporter until December 1995.

After graduation, Deanno moved to Medford, Oregon, and worked as a news reporter, anchor, and weatherperson for KDRV from 1996 thru late 1997. He then moved to Spokane and worked at KREM as a morning news anchor and weatherperson from 1997 to 1999. During his time in Medford and Spokane, Deanno completed the Broadcast Meteorology Program from Mississippi State University.

He then worked as the weekend meteorologist for KENS in San Antonio from 1999 to 2001, and then moved back home to Philadelphia to join the staff of KYW.

In 2000, while paying off credit card debt, he got a part-time job as the Philly Fanatic. While working as the fan favorite mascot, he was given the award of best mascot ever by Bob Uecker.

While at KYW-TV, Deanno was promoted from weekend to weekday morning meteorologist, won an Emmy award for Best Weathercast in 2004, and hosted two seasons of a local talent show called "Gimme The Mike". He was nominated for two Emmy awards for hosting.

On January 9, 2006, Paul Deanno began work as the Chief Meteorologist for WTVJ in Miami. He currently anchors the weather for the station's weeknight 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, and 11:00 pm broadcasts. Deanno has also hosted NBC Weather Plus special broadcasts on climate change, tropical preparedness, and Hurricane Andrew.

Deanno has filled-in on the Today Show in New York a number of times doing the weather for the show's weekend broadcasts.

Family

Deanno married his wife, Suzanne, in 2000 at the Coeur d'Alene Resort in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
