Greg Kurstin ofThe Bird and the Bee formed the short-lived experimental pop band Funkraphiliacs. He was signed to Capitol records as a solo artist during this time, but could not complete recording of his debut due to substance abuse. After a time spent in Colorado to deal with psychological issues, he returned to New York City and shortly thereafter formed the groupThe A.M. withMichael Tighe andParker Kindred formerly ofJeff Buckley 's band. The group released one critically well-received album on Universal UK before disbanding in 2005. His new bandFires of Rome , comprised of drummerGunnar Olsen and bassistMatthew Kranz , has signed with indie label The Hours.He is currently writing/producing songs with
