Flying Five

Flying Five

The Flying Five is a Group 3 flat horse race in the Republic of Ireland open to thoroughbreds which are three-years-old or above. It is run over a distance of 5 furlongs (1,006 metres) at the Curragh, and it takes place annually in late August or early September.

It moved to the Curragh in 2002, prior to which it had been held since 1991 at Leopardstown. The event had previously taken place at Phoenix Park until the venue closed at the end of the 1990 season.

The race was promoted to Group 3 status in 1988, before which it was run at Listed level. It briefly held Group 2 status from 2002 to 2003, and prior to 2003 two-year-old horses were eligible to participate.

Winners since 1987
