There are 15 civil parishes in Greater Manchester, a metropolitan county in North West England. In England, a civil parish (usually just parish) is a subnational entity, forming the lowest unit of local government. There are no civil parishes in the metropolitan boroughs of Bury, Rochdale, and Salford. Most of the county is unparished. As of the 2001 census, there were 130,540 people living in the 15 civil parishes in Greater Manchester, accounting for 5.3% of the county's population.
