Fredrick Richard Senanayake (October 20, 1882 – January 1, 1926);[ cite web|url=http://www.rootsweb.com/~lkawgw/gen3001.html |title=The Don Bartholomews Senanayake Family Tree |accessdate=2007-09-02 |work=Sri Lankan Sinhalese Family Genealogy ] popularly referred to as F.R. Senanayake) was a Sri Lankan politician and independence activist. Educated at Downing College, Cambridge he became a Barrister-at-Law at the Lincoln’s Inn, Londen. He was a leading member of the Sri Lankan independence movement in the early parts of the 20th century and was an active member of the Legislative Council. His brother Don Stephen Senanayake took his place in the Legislative Council following his death in 1926. D.S. Senanayake would go on to lead Sri Lanka's independence movement, becoming the first Prime Minister of independent Sri Lanka in 1947.] See also
