Antero Manninen is a session musician and former band member of Finnish Cello metal quartet Apocalyptica. He was an official member but did not write the music and left in 1999 due to prior commitments, although he has come back to help the band because they are currently short one member. Besides his job in Apocalyptica he used to work as a musician in a Tapiola Sinfonietta Avanti! and Finnish Radio Symphonyorchestra and once (1 time) in the orchestra of the Finnish National Opera. He is also one of the founders of Sibelius-Academy’s Cellosekstet (SSS). Antero has been performing also at funerals. Currently he is a member of the Lahti Orchestra. Trivia

* He started to play the cello at age 9.
* He is known for his glasses which gives him the nickname Mr. Cool and also Mystery Manninen. Many people think he's blind and a mute since it is hard to see videos of him talking when in fact he's neither. He started out not wearing them which can be seen in their first album. He has also talked while performing to the other members as seen on Apocalyptica's second DVD
