The postcode district is part of the LONDON post town. Sectors 1, 2 and 3 are in use. There are no dependent localities used in the postcode district. The numbered district was created in 1917 and was originally designated as the Norwood postal district. Coverage

The district is mostly within the London Borough of Croydon, with sections in the north around Norwood and Crystal Palace in the London Borough of Bromley, the London Borough of Southwark and the London Borough of Lambeth.
