Aarhus metropolitan area

Aarhus metropolitan area

Aarhus metropolitan area 808,288 inhabitants 5,842 km²

This metropolitan area is the second most populated area in Denmark only surpassed by the Copenhagen metropolitan area. The Aarhus metropolitan area is growing with 8.000 citizens every year and is so the fastest growing area in Denmark, The Copenhagen area can also grow with a figure like this but then the next year the area might see a decrease in the population figures, so it is not constant like the Aarhus area growth.

Aarhus is also a part of the larger East Jutland metropolitan area. This is a new metropolitan area, the first meetings between the cities and the Danish state has begun to find a broad corporation and a common identity. Now the area has to decide how it can grow to one metropolis to rival the Copenhagen area. The cities have not yet grown together and they probably never will because the Danish state will protect the green areas so it not will grow into a new Danish "Los Angeles". The municipalities below is what traditionally is considered east Jutland but more cities can probably become a part of the new corporation.East Jutland is by far the area in Denmark with the fastest growing population every year with a growth more than 10,000 new citizens.

The statistics below shows the figures for the Aarhus metropolitan area and for the East jutland metropolitan area
