Linda Carbonetto (born
April 12 ,1949 ) was a Canadian figure skater who competed in ladies singles. She competed at the1968 Winter Olympics and won the gold medal at theCanadian Figure Skating Championships the next year.Born in the city of
New York , Ms. Carbonetto moved toOttawa ,Ontario Canada as a child. Her skating began at nine as form of therapy to correct weak ankles. She won 1969 Canadian Women's Championship after placing second in 1968. Noted for strenuous routines, was third in North American and sixth in World Championships in 1969. She turned professional in 1970 and became featured skater with Ice Capades through 1972. Linda Carbonetto was inducted into the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame in 1990.Competitive highlights
