No. 4626 (VR) Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, RAuxAF Active 1983 - Present Country United Kingdom Branch Royal Auxiliary Air Force Role Casualty evacuation Garrison/HQ RAF Lyneham Motto Tute Domum No. 4626 Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force manages, maintains and trains its personnel for operational readiness in support of RAF requirements for Aeromedical Evacuation, in times of conflict or crisis (under the provision of the “Reserve Forces Act 1996”).
It is the only Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron in the Auxiliary Air Force. The Squadron comprises Ground Handling Flights (involved in ground-based patient care) and Aeromedical Flights (qualified to fly with patients).4626 also now supply paramedics for deployment on MERT (medical emergency response team)
4626 Squadron supports the RAF in the routine air evacuation of military and civilian personnel from many locations around the world. Currently the Squadron are engaged in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
