Lurnea High School

Lurnea High School (often abbreviated to LHS) is a co-education secondary school located in the suburb of Lurnea, New South Wales, Australia. It is a public High School that caters for roughly 800 students from Year 7 through to Year 12. An Intensive English Centre and Hearing Impaired Unit are also established at Lurnea High School. The school was first opened in 1965.

Lurnea High School's mission statement is "Together We Achieve". The school also promotes safe, respectful learning.

Houses

All students of Lurnea High School are alphabetically organised into one of four Houses. These Houses compete against each other in sporting events such as the annual Athletics Carnival, Swimming Carnival and Cross Country. Each House is named after a famous Australian sportsperson.


*Bradman: Students representing this house wear "red".
*Freeman: Students representing this house wear "green".
*O'Neil: Students representing this house wear "yellow".
*Thorpe: Students representing this house wear "blue".

Achievements

Lurnea High School Soccer Boys Team made it to the Grand Final in 2001 but sadly they lost.In 2008, the team made it to the quarter finals.

Lurnea High School 2008 Basketball Team came third in the state.
