A960 Godetia

A960 "Godetia" is a command and logistical support ship of the Belgian Naval Component, launched on December 7, 1965 at the Boelwerf in Temse, and christened by Mrs. Moyersoen. The patronage of the A960 "Godetia" was accepted by the city of Ostend. It was the first of two support ships.

The A960 "Godetia" is currently commanded by Corvette Captain Luc van den Steen, who took over on 2 February 2008 from Corvette Captain Philippe Plumier. [cite web

History

The A960 "Godetia" is the successor of the K226 HMS "Godetia", a Flower class corvette which was manned by Belgian sailors during Second World War.

Missions

The A960 "Godetia" has three missions: fishery protection, acting as a support and supply ship for minesweepers and acting as a command ship for mine countermeasure operations.
