- Lex and Terry Show Games and Bits
In addition to their usual format of giving their listeners advice regarding various subjects,
Lex and Terry also feature a number of "bits" and games involving both staff members and callers.Current Bits
* 900 numbers - Using a soundboard of various celebrity figures (including Bill O'Reilley,
Homer Simpson , andNapoleon Dynamite ) Lex and Terry would call a phone sex number, attempting to confuse and bewilder the girl on the other line. (The bit was discontinued as of August 23, 2006, when it was added to Lex and Terry's "Hall of Fame." The reason given for the cancellation was that the operators were starting to catch on.)* The Applicant - With consent from a business' owner, or operating manager, staff member Dee is brought in for a fake interview, to be conducted by a member of a business seeking to fill a position. The quirk of the bit is that Dee is given instructions on how to behave by the show's hosts. Usually he is to be disrespectful, or made to seem like an ex-convict.* Advice from a Drunk Bitch - Taint visits a local nightclub where he asks random girls who have been out drinking various advice questions collected from listeners by the hosts.
* Best Friend - The listerners call in to test their so called "best friend" to see how far they are willing to go in the name of friendship. Lex and Terry give the listener a situation which the listener must in turn get their best friend, who is on the other line, to believe them and either help or leave them hanging. For example Lex and Terry told one lady to tell her best friend who was currently in Gainsville that she had ran over a family at a cross walk and took off at wild adventures in Valdosta, GA. This bit is no longer being preformed live and is recorded during sudden death.
* Best of Shows - The show is broadcast live every weekday, but when the hosts are on vacation, or unavailable to host the show, various events in the show's past are aired. As a general rule, the show's producer decides what material is in a best of, but Lex and Terry have strung together best of shows on a couple occasions. In some markets, the best of show can be heard on Saturdays.
* Black Like Taint – Taint takes to the streets and speaks Ebonics and use African-American slang to African-American people with the help of Dee, who is feeding lines to him over the phone. Lex and Terry present a situation which Dee translates and Taint acts out. For example, the hosts wants Taint to ask a man where the nearest free clinic is located. Dee translates, "Hey, bro. You know where the doctor at? I gots to find out if I'm leakin'!" or if it's time to say goodbye, Dee translates, "I'll holla!"
* Countdown - Lex and Terry keep a running countdown, to the second, forecasting the moment a certain underage female celebrity turns 18, or "legal." As of
2007 , the countdown features Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, the daughter of actorsAngelina Jolie andBrad Pitt . Other notable countdowns have featured theOlsen twins and Lex's own daughter.* Dump Ditch - Taint and/or Dee visit a public restroom and pound on the door of an occupied stall before running out.
* Extreme Spin the Bottle - 6 females and 4 males gather in the studio to play
Spin the Bottle . The "extreme" twist is that the contestant spinning the bottle absolutely must kiss the person on which the bottle lands, regardless of gender, for a minimum 30 seconds.* Happy Birthday Bitch - A female listener of the show is invited into the studio to celebrate her birthday in whatever manner she deems acceptable. Ladies are able to request certain foodstuffs and entertainment. The only prerequisites are this: the actual birthday must fall when the show airs, the "bitch" must bring a female friend, they must be 18 or over, and friends and family are forbidden from calling the show. This is a spin-off of the now retired bit "Drunk Bitch Friday." NOTE: There was an exception to the prerequisite of the birthday falling on the day of celebration for Bunny Love.
* Helper Taint - Using a uniform sent in by a listener, Taint goes to a local business and masquerades as an employee, proceeding to "assist" customers in deciding on various purchases or speaking with legitimate employees about all manner of subjects from staff parties they weren't invited to or rumors of downsizing.
* Homeless Comic - Taint and/or Dee gather a group of homeless people to tell their best jokes. Three finalists are selected by the hosts and are then given the opportunity to tell another joke or simply retell their previous joke. Listeners then vote on the winner who receives $100.
* Homeless Idol - Another homeless talent bit in the vein of "Homeless Comic," Taint and/or Dee gather a group of homeless people for a singing competition. After narrowing it down to three finalists, listeners vote on the winner, who receives $100.
* I Don't Want Dat No Mo - Dee goes into an establishment (usually a fast food restaurant) buys a product, uses it (for example he takes a bite of a chicken biscuit), and then hassles to get his money back by saying "I don't want that no mo."
* Is Cindy There - Dee drives to a random home and honks his horn until the occupant comes out to investigate. Dee asks the question "Is Cindy there?" and is usually greeted with anger from the residents.
* Ladies Day - Every so often, the hosts dedicate the entire show to taking nothing but calls from female listeners.
* Lex and Terry of Hollywood - Five female listeners call the show, and privately divulge their cut and color of underwear. One type is chosen to be guessed by the questioner. Then, by asking questions unrelated to clothing, the questioner, typically Lex or Terry, will attempt to determine which woman is wearing that particular type of underwear.
* Make Taint Scream - The hosts enjoy Taint's blood-curdling screams so much that they are frequently devising new ways to "make Taint scream," such as pelting him with
paintball s or shocking him with an electric dog collar.* Meal or No Meal - A parody of
NBC 's Deal or No Deal, a homeless person is invited to come into the studio and select one envelope at random out of a group of 26. Each envelope contains the name of a particular food item or restaurant gift certificate ranging in quality from a half-eaten grape to the grand prize of one night in a hotel, dinner at a fancy restaurant, and a fresh change of clothes. In Deal or No Deal fashion, the individual selects random envelopes for removal and is offered various offers from the "banker" (usually Peter or Dee) throughout the game.* Mental Challenge - By using the process of elimination, an on-air talent asks a group of callers (at least one is actually "mentally challenged") different questions to weed out the real "mentally challenged" person. To avoid controversy, the caller with the disability was never born with it, but rather acquired it through their own stupidity, such as a vehicular accident or drug use.
* The Movin' On Van - Dee parks a large van with someone coming off a recently ended relationship, who then has sex with their new partner in front of their ex's house. Balloons are released into the air as the individual has "moved on".
* Mystery Donut - As a form of punishment, someone must eat a donut which had had something done to it. Various ideas have included being farted on, thrown down a hall, or perhaps nothing at all. The "mystery" is revealed only upon complete consumption of said donut.
* Out of Context - The show's producer, Scott Richards, gathers various phrases which were uttered in the time following the last "Out of Context" segment. As the title suggests, the phrases are stripped of their context, and while innocent when said, can be interpreted as perverse.
* The Paging Game - A member of the Lex and Terry staff visits a local store and attempts to get an unusual name paged over the paging system of the store. "Lou Sainis", for example.
* Power Advice - In an attempt to clear a line full of calls which the hosts deem boring or irrelevant to the current conversation, the hosts blaze through each call as quickly as possible, demanding the callers get to the point of their call immediately and giving their advice just as fast. More often than not, callers are dropped altogether for not making their point fast enough.
* Pull My Finger - Dee goes to a location (usually a formal restaurant) and asks patrons to pull his finger, usually claiming he "jammed it." When they do, he then sets off a "world class fart machine" and describes people's reactions to listeners. He even excuses himself to the restroom, only to return making the same foul-sounding sounds.
* R-Lex - Listeners call in and describe to Lex a pill. Lex in turn either places the pill into a category of mood enhancer, pain killer, or muscle relaxer or he name the generic name of the pill. The song played throughout this segment is Jefferson Starship Airplane's (White Rabbit).
* The Race Card - Dee goes to a location, and acts very cordial until the hosts tell him to "play it," which causes Dee to fly into a string of accusations aimed at racial discrimination.
* Running of the Bums - Dee takes to the streets in search of a group of homeless individuals and, without warning, places a twenty dollar bill on the ground a good distance from them, telling them that the first person to reach it gets to keep it.
* Save a Jerk - Taint and Dee visit a local business where one begins to act very rude and disorderly only to have the other step in just in time to "save" him. The idea is to see who can come up with the best excuse for his partner's irrational behavior.
* Spread My Mom - Taint and Dee go out to various locations in the metroplex with a can of fake ashes. Taint plays the role of bereaved son while Dee plays the role of his attorney. They explain that the ashes are Taint's mother and that it was her dying wish to be scattered at that particular location, such as the garden outside a local
Starbucks and the football field atSouthern Methodist University . The circumstances vary with each different place they go. If successful the ashes are spread in a hilarious way, most often by means of a hand-crankedbroadcast seeder , which Dee videotapes.* Stump the 'Tard - Some one from the show has to pick from a panel who is real and who is fakin'. .
* To Smell the Truth - Various foul smelling items are collected, everyone takes turns smelling them, and the worst smelling item is voted on. Recently, a pair of underwear worn by a homeless man was voted the most foul.
* Taint On A Bus - Taint goes for a ride on a bus, either public transportation or a short bus ride from a commercial bus company. He spends the ride with Lex and Terry on the phone, and performs various acts to irritate the other passengers, and amuse the hosts of the show.
* Who's More Pathetic - Various simple-minded listeners are called, and given a series of questions by the hosts. After a few rounds of questions, listeners vote for who they feel is the "most pathetic."
Retired Bits
*Adult Top Ten - Once a week, Lex and Terry were given a list of the top ten adult movie sales of the week. Based solely on the titles of the films, they would try to guess which were the gay titles.
* The Best of Kim - A compilation put together that consisted of former newschick Kim's screams, shrieks, and scares when Lex or Terry blew an air horn at random times during the show. Retired upon Kim's departure from the show in late March, 2007.
* Drunk Bitch Friday - A female listener came to the studio to get drunk and thereby provide entertainment. The bit was highly popular, but both the hosts and their executive producer felt the bit wasn't quite what it was supposed to be, and announced that it would end on January 20th, 2006. Drunk Bitch Friday generated a bit of controversy during its run. One station, WRUF-FM of Gainesville, FL, an affiliate from the University of Florida, refused to broadcast the live feed for DBF, opting to play "best of" clips instead as part of a wider campaign to curb on-campus drinking. Once DBF was discontinued, WRUF-FM returned the live show to its Friday morning broadcast.
* Harry Pothead - The hosts would gather a group of 3 - 4 callers to read selections from the latest
Harry Potter novel. The catch was that before each person read their passage, they would take a hit ofmarijuana through a waterbong .* iPod Punishment - Members of the staff sang a random song from an iPod karaoke style. Only the singer could hear the song, and hilarity ensued when their singing was just plain awful. Punishment was given for showing up late to work, screwing up a bit, or being caught in a lie. Retired once the hosts decided it had run its course and was no longer considered humorous.
* Roast – A member of the staff was singled out and made fun of by each other staff member for ten to twenty minutes in the typical roast style. Sports man Sam Kouvaris played host. The bit was officially retired once every member of the staff had been roasted, including
Bruce Baum , a comedian and friend of the hosts who periodically calls the show.* Thomas vs. Blomis
