William and Florence Schmidt Art Center

The William and Florence Schmidt Art Center is a 6,500 square-foot art museum located on the Belleville Campus of Southwestern Illinois College, and cares for a collection of approximately four hundred pieces. In addition to paintings, photography, and pre-Columbian artifacts, the collection includes several outdoor sculptures; many of which were acquired with Illinois Art in Architecture funds, a program devoted to promoting art in public buildings. [State of Illinois Capital Development Board Website [http://www.cdb.state.il.us/art.shtml] ] The Art Center also rotates temporary exhibits within its four galleries every six to eight weeks.

Libby Reuter remains the Art Center's Executive Director and Chief Curator since its construction in 2001.
