The show was a hit in Los Angeles before moving to Broadway. Directed by Hal Gerson, with musical staging by Gower Champion, it opened on December 16, 1948 at the National Theatre and moved three times before finally completing its run of 460 performances on January 21, 1950. In addition to Channing, the cast included Gene Nelson and Bob Scheerer. All three won the Theatre World Award, and Champion won the Tony Award for Best Choreography.

Highlights of the revue were recreated for the October 28, 1954 broadcast of the CBS monthly variety series "TV's Shower of Stars" [http://www.broadway.com/gen/Buzz_Story.aspx?ci=521650] .
