Breakaway is an unincorporated master-planned community in Madison County, North Carolina, United States, in a mountainous area north of Asheville. Breakaway is a traditional neighborhood development and follows the principles of New Urbanism. The community is part of the Asheville Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Breakaway is influenced by Seaside and Rosemary recreating the feel of a community. Founded in 2005, Breakaway encompasses about 93 acres and when completed will have approximately 270 homesites and a mixed use town center with shops, restaurants, and activities.
