The Kinetic Playground was a
nightclub located inChicago ,Illinois . It was opened on April 5, 1968 byAaron Russo .Russo originally called the venue the Electric Theater, but he was sued by the owners of the
Electric Circus inNew York , and in an out of court settlement he changed the club's name a few months after its opening.The club became a driving force in the music business, hosting famous

Medium Cool " (1969). The movie was filmed on location during the1968 Democratic Convention and many members of the Playground crew were hired as extras.The venue was closed after being badly damaged by a fire. It is not related to the Kinetic Playground venue currently (2008) operating in Chicago.
