Pablo Acosta

Pablo Acosta was an infamous Mexican narcotics smuggler, and adviser and partner of Amado Carrillo Fuentes. While firstly smuggling only marijuana and heroin, Acosta becoming increasingly involved in the cocaine trade near the end of his life. Pablo Acosta made his drug empire in the once little dusty border town of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, and had his greatest power in the period around 1984-86. He later was killed in the border village of Santa Elena . The book "Drug Lord" by investigative journalist Terrance Poppa chronicles his rise & fall, including his severe addiction to crack cocaine & his subsequent decline & fall in the late 1980s. His death at the hand of Mexican authorities who were working with the US DEA on the operation came in April of 1987. It is rumored that Amado Carrillo Fuentes was behind the action.
