It debuted at number 15 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart before reaching its peak of 12. It has also received significant airplay throughout New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The song won an ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist - Single.

Critical analysis

There has been much conjecture over the meaning of the highly ambiguous lyricsfact|date=January 2008; for instance the fact that the subject of "ping pong" is not actually addressed in the song but when questioned, lead songwriter Amandah Wilkinson simply said "It really is just a song about ping pong — and crack cocaine". fact|date=January 2008
