The Sanman Nuclear Power plant is power station under construction in the Zhejiang Province in China. The groundbreaking kickoff for the first and second units was on February 26, 2008, and third and fourth units are planned through 2009. [ cite web

The plant will be notable as the first implementation of the AP1000 reactor developed by Westinghouse. Announcement for construction of this unit comes about a year after the Westinghouse won in bidding for the new reactors over other companies such as General Electric. The contract for the new plant includes both Westinghouse and The Shaw Group (a stake holder in Westinghouse along with Japanese giant Toshiba).
