Sir William Cunliffe Brooks, 1st Baronet (1819-1900) was a son of Samuel Brooks . He was educated at Rugby and St. John’s, Cambridge . In 1847 he was called to the Bar . In 1864 he became sole partner of Cunliffe Brooks and Co, Manchester on the death of his father and he opened Brooks and Co., 81 Lombard Street. In 1869 he was elected Conservative M.P. for East Cheshire . In 1886 he was made a baronet. He had no sons but two daughters who married into titled families.
