Nizhny Novgorod inRussia . It is a surviving part of a much larger forest area that existed here centuries ago. Geographically, it is locatedin the north-western part ofKstovsky District , between Nizhny Novgorod andKstovo , and is bounded roughly by Highway M-7 and Pavlovo-Royka -Zeletsino railway from the north and theKudma river in the south.Administratively, Zelyony Gorod is incorporated as a "resort settlement",i.e. a town-like jurisdiction geared to maintenance and protecion of resort areas. Although geographically entirely located within the suburban
Kstovsky District , Zelyony Gorod is administered by the city ofNizhny Novgorod .There is little permanent population in Zelyony Gorod (2,300, as of 2005), but many resort facilities, children's summer camps, etc. (originally built by the Soviet state or labor unions) are located there. As of 2007, an upscale single-family housing development is being built on the southern outskirts of Zelyony Gorod (the Rassvet area), near the
Kudma .
