William Edward Tomline

William Edward Tomline

William Edward Tomline (27 February 1787 - 28 May 1836) was an English politician, a Member of Parliament for several constituencies [ [http://www.ast.cam.ac.uk/~ipswich/Observatory/Tomline.htm According to Roy Gooding's article on a Tomline Family website, "During 1826 he began his parliamentary career, representing the constituency of Truro in Cornwall until 1830, after which he held the seat for Minehead."] ] .

He was the son of George Pretyman Tomline, bishop. He married Frances Amler in 1811 and they had two girls and three boys, one of whom was "Colonel" George Tomline, also a Member of Parliament.

He was born at Riby Hall in Lincolnshire, and educated at Westminster School and Trinity College, Cambridge.

His London home was the John Nash-designed, 1 Carlton House Terrace. On the death of his father, he inherited Riby Hall and property in Bacton, Suffolk.
