João Domingos Silva Pinto born 21 November,1961 in Vila Nova de Gaia,Portugal is a former Portuguese footballer player, who spent his entire career with FC Porto and is currently one of its assistant coaches. He is regarded as one of the greatest Portuguese right backs of all-time.

A FC Porto trainee, it didn't take him long to establish himself as a world class right back in the legendary 80's Porto side and the Portuguese national team. When Fernando Gomes broke his leg before the 1987 European Champions Cup final he was picked as the captain, and reportedly only released the cup on Portuguese soil. He retired after the 1996/1997 season after 16 years with Porto, after Porto captured three titles in a row for the first time. Given his devotion and long service to the club, which exemplifies the character required by Porto fans' for their players, he was given a place coaching the youth teams. He won nine titles, four cups, and was in the 1987-88 "trilogy" team, which won the Champions Cup, the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.He played for Portugal between 1983 and 1996, earning 70 caps (1 goal scored), captaining the team on 42 occasions. This, combined with his intensity the aforementioned episode in the '87 ECC final and leaving the field in tears after losing to Italy for the 1994 FIFA World Cup qualifiers earned him the nickname "Capitão". He played in Euro 84 and 1986 FIFA World Cup.
