September 8 ,1877 –February 26 ,1992 ) was an Americansupercentenarian who was recognized byGuinness World Records as the 'oldest living American' in 1991 (later, the SSA study would replace her withLucy Hannah , who was apparently older). Fact|date=October 2008 She was born inWayside, West Virginia , and worked as a seamstress and a farmer. Fact|date=October 2008 In an interview in 1991, she claimed that herlongevity was due to her "good, clean living" and a milkshake she drank every day. Springfield, West Virginia . At the time of her death at the age of 114 years 171 days, she had nine children (four of whom she had outlived), 21 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 37 great-great-grandchildren.
