The song has a more rhythmic pop vibe similar to "Irreplaceable" since it is produced by the same hitmakers Stargate (production team). Stargate is known for their work with premier UK & US , R&B and hip hop acts of the day. The production has a drum-based beat backed by a guitar-oriented melody. The song was released as the lead single from the album in the UK in March 2008, but failed to make an impact on the UK charts because it only reached number 50. Sparks was saved in the UK just as she was in the US in that No Air again had massive success in the UK as it had in the US. Jive decided to re-release the single Tattoo with a new video for Europe only. It will be released in the UK October 20, 2008

In this video, a guy that Jordin likes begins following her, as she leads him to a merry go round. She is shown by herself on the merry go round throughout the video. Once the guy is on the merry go round, it starts, and she is shown having a good time with him. The video also features both color and black and white close face shots of Jordin intercut into it. It features a cameo of Blake Lewis, the runner-up on the sixth season of "American Idol", who appears briefly with Jordin on the merry go round at the end.
European version
A European version of the music video was filmed to coincide with it's re-release in Europe. This version of the video was released on September 12, 2008. The video features Sparks in a room with several other people, at what appears to be a college gathering. As she begins to sing, Jordin is shown with a "love" tattoo on her upper arm, as vines draw themselves down her arm. Following this, the ink begins to appear on the others and the floors of the room, creating tattoo's in the process. Some of the people in the room are a couple, and the tattoo's seem to bring them closer. The created tattoo's depict images and words, such as a heart or the words "free" and "peace." Sparks is also shown by herself in an empty room, with a mirror covering the wall throughout the video. At one point, Sparks self consciously looks in the mirror, coinciding with the song lyric "when I looked in the mirror, didn't deliver." There are also recurring shots of Sparks in another room against a green wall.
