Dunwich founded in 630. In common with many Anglo-Saxon bishoprics it moved, in this case toElmham in 673. After the Norman invasion it moved toThetford in 1070 finally moving toNorwich in 1094.It covers 577
parish es with 646 churches covering all of the county ofNorfolk save for the extreme west beyond theRiver Great Ouse that is part of thediocese of Ely . It includes the deanery ofLothingland , (the port ofLowestoft and its immediate hinterland) is in the county ofSuffolk .
