Edwin Elliott Carnett [Lefty] (born
October 21 ,1916 ) is a formerleft fielder inMajor League Baseball who played for three different teams between 1941 and 1945. Listed at 6' 0", 185 lb., he batted and threwleft-handed . He was born inSpringfield, Missouri . Carnett entered in the majors in 1941 with the Boston Braves, playing for them two games before joining the US Navy duringWorld War II (1942-43). After dircharge, he played for theChicago White Sox (1944) andCleveland Indians (1945). In a three-season career, Carnett posted a 3.40 ERA with fourstrikeout s, three walks, and 5 ⅓ innings in six pitching appearances. He did not have a decision.As of 2007, Carnett (age|1916|10|21) is recognized as one of the oldest living major league ballplayers.
