Tom Carlson

Tom Carlson (born December 9 1941 in Holdrege, Nebraska) is a Nebraska state senator from Holdrege, Nebraska, United States, in the Nebraska Legislature. He is also a financial advisor in Holdrege.__NOTOC__

Personal life

He was born on December 9, 1941, in Holdrege, Nebraska. He attended the University of Northern Colorado, earning a B.S. in 1963 and an M.S. in 1964. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 1967. He taught at Taylor University, where he also coached baseball and football prior to returning to Holdrege, Nebraska where he works as a financial advisor. He is married and has three grown children. Prior to being elected to the State Legislature, he served on the Holdrege Public School Board for eight years.

Carlson was elected in 2006 to represent the 38th Nebraska legislative district with 54 percent of the vote [cite web | url= http://www.sos.state.ne.us/elec/canvass/general2006/unicam.htm| title=Nebraska Secretary of State Official 2006 General Election Results] . The district includes Clay, Franklin, Gosper, Harlan, Nuckolls, Phelps, and Webster counties. Major communities in the district include Alma, Blue Hill, Franklin, Holdrege, Nelson, Red Cloud, Superior, and Sutton. He currently sits on the Banking, Commerce and Insurance; and Natural Resources committees.
