Dean Reid Burgess (born 24 May 1946) was a counselor to Charles W. Dahlquist II in the general presidency of the Young Men organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 2004 to 2009.
Burgess was born and raised in Alpine, Utah. After graduating from high school, he attended the College of Southern Utah on a basketball scholarship for one year. Burgess then went to Brazil as a missionary for the LDS Church. After returning to Utah, he graduated in 1970 from Brigham Young University with a degree in business management.
From 1997 to 2000, Burgess presided over the Brazil Belo Horizonte East Mission of the church. He has also been a member of a stake presidency and a bishop. At the April 2004 church general conference, Burgess was accepted by the church as the first counselor to Charles W. Dahlquist II in the general presidency of the Young Men organization. Burgess also currently serves on the National Boy Scouts of America Advisory Council.[1] Dahlquist and his counselors were released in April 2009.
Burgess married Annette Christensen in the Provo Utah Temple in 1973. The couple are the parents of five children and reside in Sandy, Utah.
