HMP Bristol up until 2004 was part of the high security estate holding category A prisoners. It currently holdsremand prisoners as well as convicted prisoners, including prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment.Bristol's history includes fourteen executions, of which the last took place on the
17 December 1963 whenRussell Pascoe was hanged for the murder of William Rowe during a robbery. His accomplice Dennis Whitty met the same fate atHMP Winchester on the same morning.External links
