Pakistan Shipowners' College is a Government (Public) college, located in Shahrah e Noorjahan, in North Nazimabad, Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.

History

Pakistan Shipowners' College was established in 1969, stands unique among the teaching institutions of Karachi. It has a purpose-built building located in Block R and S, North Nazimabad, Shahrah e Noorjahan spread over 12 acres of land. The magnificent building is surrounded with extensive lawns, playgrounds and sport fields.

It was founded by the private management but when the Educational Institutions were nationalized in 1972, this college was also nationalized. Later it was promoted to Degree College in 1975 for its good reputation among the institutions of the same level.

Students actively engage in learning through classes, fully equipped laboratories, a comprehensive library and high-tech computer lab.

Academics

The academic activity, taking place at College, is remarkable both in quantity and quality. The whole activity is divided into a number of faculties and departments. These bodies are primarily responsible for designing, offering and running educational programs. In depth information on the objectives of these bodies, programs offered, mode of training and other related matters is provided in the following pages.

Library

Pakistan Shipowners' College has a spacious and well-stocked library with an excellent atmosphere. The library has regular subscriptions to periodicals and newspapers. The library is open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is ideal for students wishing to study between and outside of class hours.

Science Labs

The science labs can accommodate up to 50 students at a time. Facilities and equipments are available for students to perform practical for Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Computer Lab

The computer lab is quipped with 15 Pentium-III machines. A full time teacher is available for assistance. The students are provided with application software and are encouraged to use the facility.

Sports

The college also offers an exclusive physical education program. We have qualified and experienced physical instructors for both outdoor and indoor sports activities. Students participate in sports competition and championships like Cricket, Hockey, Football, Volley Ball, Basket Ball and Athletics.
