Wayne Weidemann (born 21 October 1966) is an
Australian rules football coach and former player. He is most notable for his career in theAustralian Football League with theAdelaide Crows .Nicknamed "Weed", he was a fearsome looking character with long blond hair and a fierce star reminiscent of a
Viking warrior. He had a cult following amongst Adelaide fans, and the collective cry of "Weed" could be heard whenever he went near the ball during an Adelaide home game.Weidemann played 68 AFL games between 1991-1996 and kicked 26 goals. Before playing with the Crows in the AFL, Weidemann was a player for the
Woodville-West Torrens Football Club in theSANFL . After his retirement from the AFL, he took up the position as senior coach with theWest Adelaide Football Club , before being sacked from the position in 2007.
