Saturday Night Live (Season 30)
- Saturday Night Live (Season 30)
"Saturday Night Live" had its thirtieth season on the 2004-2005 television season on NBC. With Jimmy Fallon gone, the show saw more cast changes. Fred Armisen was promoted to repertory player, while Finesse Mitchell and Kenan Thompson stayed feature players. Rob Riggle, an improv comedian with Respecto Montalban and former U.S. Marine (who had a non-speaking role in the season 29 episode hosted by Donald Trump in a pretaped fake commercial), joined the cast as a feature player, along with long-time SNL writer, Jason Sudeikis (who appeared in bit roles on SNL prior to becoming a feature player) near the season's end. With Fallon gone, Amy Poehler became Tina Fey's co-anchor on Weekend Update, making Fey and Poehler the first (and, so far, only) two-woman anchor team. This season was also home to Ashlee Simpson's infamous lip-syncing gaffe during her second performance (on the episode hosted by Jude Law).
The thirtieth season began on October 2, 2004 and ended on May 21, 2005 with 20 episodes in all.
